Rosarito Ensenada Bike Ride

The Rosarito Ensenada 50 mile fun bike ride is a great event. The ride takes place every six months in April and September, and has been going on for almost 30 years. Each ride draws anywhere from 6000 to 10,000 participants ranging from young kids to octogenarians. You start in front of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and make your way south along the coast for about 20 miles before turning inland at La Mision. From there you tackle the big hill, then ride along on the plateau for a while before the long downhill descent into Ensenada. There is a fiesta at the finish line with live music, cold beer, tacos and more. It makes for a really fun day! Baja Bound has been the official Mexico insurance sponsor for the event since 2003, and we participate as well! I actually got a bike when we first got involved with the event, and Hank actually rode it several times before we ever got involved. Hank actually prefers to do the “Elite Start”, which is limited to 200 advanced riders that really want to do the bike ride at top speed. At the April ride, Hank did the course in 2 hours and 18 minutes, which is only 15 minutes short of the course record. Nice work Hank!

The next Rosarito Ensenada Bike Ride takes place on September 28, 2008, and Baja Bound will once again be the participating in the event, and serving as the official Mexican insurance sponsor as well. Hope to see you down in Baja for this great cycling event!
