Taco Tour Part Three: Taco Surf

August 28, 2008 – 2:59 pm

Taco SurfI had a handful of meetings in Baja yesterday and friends that were staying near K-38 for the week. After the meetings, I decided to stay down in Baja to surf and visit with my friends. I ended up eating twice at Taco Surf and enjoyed both meals quite a bit. The first go around I actually opted for a carne asada torta after trying a bite of an al pastor torta that a friend had ordered. The flavor of the meat was really good, as was the combination of guacamole, salsa, cilantro an onion. However, the bread is what made it amazing. I have a feeling they get the bread from the panaderia a few doors down, because it was so fresh, light and delicious that it seemed like it had been baked just hours ago. For my second meal, I had three carne asada tacos with all of the trimmings. The tacos were also quite good, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing the torta was earlier in the day. So…maybe I should consider writing a new section called Torta Tour instead of Taco Tour! Taco Surf is located about a mile south of Calafia on the free road just before crossing the bridge at K-38.
