Voyage Of The Dawn Treader To Be Filmed In Rosarito

June 24, 2008 – 2:39 pm

I recently found out that the third Narnia movie - The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader - has already begun pre-production at Baja Studios in Rosarito, the same location where “Titanic” and “Master And Commander” were filmed. This October, Disney will be bringing their cast and production crew down to Baja to begin filming the movie, which will create a much needed influx of revenue for Rosarito hotels, restaurants and local merchants. The estimated 100 million dollar production is expected to last well into 2009, with a projected release date in May of 2010.

I think this is great news in light of all the negative press Baja has had over the last year. After all, if Baja is safe enough for Disney, it’s safe enough for just about anybody!

The question is…..do Lucy, Edmund and Eustace need Mexican auto insurance?

  2. I’m a US Citizen living in San Diego, with a house on the beach in Rosarito. Lots of excitement down there with the movie starting production. We never see any signs of problems down there. The drug cartels are after other drug cartels, not tourists or non drug people. The crime in the US is what scares me. There’s crime everywhere; let’s not pin it on Baja. People need to read articles like the one from the mayor of Rosarito recently to see what’s really happening vs. the stories we hear in the US. Read Mayor Hugo Torres’ editorial in the San Diego Union Tribune a couple weeks ago

  4. We were planning to go to San Felipe at some point during the winter months, after visiting La Paz. We recently heard from friends that the road from Mexicali to San Felipe is very bad and almost impassable. Any truth to that. Has anyone recently travelled this way and can comment ? Thanks, Stuzzicadente

  5. I would have a hard time believing that the road from Mexicali to San Felipe is almost impassable. I would post your question on the Baja Nomad Forum and I am sure someone will be able to give a recent report of the road conditions.
