It is passable all the way down, but in a few spots you have to slow down and go off road. We took a 12 passenger van. It was fine...we also had a lot of beer. We recently heard from friends that the road from Mexicali to San Felipe is very bad and almost impassable. Any truth to that. Has anyone recently travelled this way and can comment ? Lots of excitement down there with the movie starting production. We never see any signs of problems down there. The drug cartels are after other drug cartels, not tourists or non drug people. The crime in the US is what scares me. There's crime everywhere; let's not pin it on Baja. People need to read articles like the one from the mayor of Rosarito recently to see what's really happening vs. the stories we hear in the US.
